Kalk Bay, known for its fishing harbour and artistic community, lies on the False Bay Coast which is washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

The numerous white sand beaches around this bay are popular for swimming, kayaking, surfing, scuba diving, wind surfing and kite surfing. False Bay is a sailor’s delight with active sailing clubs in Simons Town and on Fish Hoek beach. For golfing enthusiasts, two of the Cape’s top Golf Courses (Clovelly Country Club and the Westlake Golf Course) are a 5 minute drive away.

Other delights to be experienced are the fine hiking trails of the Table Mountain National Park several of which begin in Kalk Bay. These are especially beautiful during the cooler seasons when the Cape Fynbos is in full bloom and pods of whale families are visiting the Bay.

Cape Town’s famous African Penguin colony, the Cape of Good Hope with its unique flora and fauna and the Cape Point Lighthouse with its fantastic views are a scenic 20 minute drive away. Watch out for Chacma Baboons, tortoises, porcupines, zebra, caracal and many other species on the way there and back.

Kalk Bay and the surrounding villages of Muizenberg, Fish Hoek, Noordhoek, and Simons Town are a treasure chest of good restaurants and bistros, many lovely art galleries and interesting browsing shops for books and other collectables.
